Associate Head of School
B.A.: University of Arkansas
Hello, my name is Eugene (Gene) Sorum and I’m the Associate Head at Hsinchu County American School (HCAS). I was born and raised in Minnesota, USA, graduating from Mayo High School, and then residing in Arkansas for 20 years where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in History from the University of Arkansas. I then had the opportunity to work for a Fortune 500 company in management.
Since my arrival in Taiwan seventeen years ago, I have taught in both private and public schools in Hsinchu County. I’m excited to be a part of the team at HCAS working with our students and parents to build a model school of the future for this wonderful community.
In my time away from school my wife and I enjoy being active in cycling and fitness, which for me is weightlifting and going to great beaches!
